Morning Round-up: Mundinger Scores Five Goals in Win

The Rye hockey team improved to 2-0 Wednesday evening thanks to a superlative showing from senior Paul Mundinger. The captain scored an incredible five goals in the Garnets’ 6-2 win at home against John Jay-Cross River. Brian Powers recorded three assists and also scored a goal.

At home in the friendly confines of Rye Country Day School, the girls’ squash team continued their tear by throttling Hackley 7-0. Hadley Chu, Katie Yates, Taryn Clary, Nealy Nimocks, Liz Judd, Lindsay Haut and Nina Stopnitzky were all victors.

Holy Child’s squash team dropped a 7-0 decision to Sacred Heart.

Morning Round-up: Busy Weekend of B-ball Tournaments On Tap

I was able to attend yesterday’s fencing meet at Rye Country Day School, and I have to admit I was blown away by the athletes. Although both the girls’ and boys’ teams lost, the skill they displayed was something to witness. A full report on this will come later and in the hard copy of The Rye Record edition that hits the stands a week from today.

Despite a 25-point outburst from Carla Elias Nava, Edgemont was able to down the Rye Neck girls’ basketball team 54-45 in the first round of the Hastings Tournament.
