Bull’s Eye for Haley Neiman in Buffalo

August 20, 2010

Haley Neiman, a seventh grade student at Rye Middle School, made her debut at the Empire State Games last month in Buffalo. Neiman competed in the archery event, and has practiced the sport for many years at sleep-away camps as well at Rye Recreation, with Hudson Valley coach John Wilde. During the competition, Neiman shot at target distances of 60, 50, 40 and 30 meters over four days. As the second youngest archer statewide in the Scholastic division, she enjoyed the immense challenge of the four-day event, as well as the ongoing encouragement from other competitors and their families.

“It was amazing and I hope to go again next year,” said Neiman. “I can’t believe our team actually won the silver!”
