Rye resident David Telesco will get back in the boxing ring October 21 at the Rye Town Hilton for the second fight of his comeback quest. The 41-year-old Port Chester native is scheduled to box former two-time world champion Byron Mitchell (27-5-1, 20 KOs). Telesco (30-6-1, 25 KOs) pummeled William Gill at the Hilton in July, knocking out the overmatched Newark brawler in little over five minutes. It was Telesco’s first professional fight in more than five years.
“I never underestimate anyone, and my confidence has been there since day one of my career,” said Telesco, who went 12 rounds with Roy Jones Jr. in 2000. “I’m looking forward to this upcoming fight, because Mitchell is the caliber of fighter I’m used to boxing.”
