Ryan Feeley, a graduate of Rye High School and current Michigan Wolverine, swam his way onto the U.S. National Open Water Team after finishing sixth in the 10K Open Water National race held last month in Fort Lauderdale. Thanks to his impressive finish, Feeley qualified for the World University Games, which will be held in Shenzhen, China, August 12-22. There he will compete in the 10K Open Water race, as well as the 1500-meter freestyle.

A former multi-race All-American and State champion for the Garnets, Feeley earned collegiate All-American status after anchoring Michigan’s 800-meter freestyle relay to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA championships in March. He also placed ninth in the 500-meter freestyle, and 16th in the 1650 freestyle. As a sophomore, he was named to the 2011 Academic All-Big Ten team and received Michigan’s Athletic Academic Achievement Award for a second straight year.
