Chabot Earns Lions Club Distinction

Maddy Chabot, a senior captain on the girls’ lacrosse team, was honored with the Lions Club Athlete of the Month award for April.

Chabot joined the JV squad back in 2006, and was named the team’s MVP. Her ascension to the top of the program continued with varsity. The starting midfielder was named to the All-Elite team in 2010, and she also received the Coaches Award. One of just four seniors on this year’s team, Chabot will likely be a major reason for Rye’s success if they advance in the Section playoffs.

She also played a major role in the Rye girls’ soccer dynasty. The three-time varsity letter winner was part of the 2008 State champion team, and was a captain on the 2010 squad that made it all the way back to the State final.

In the academic arena, Chabot has posted High Honor Roll marks every quarter at Rye High. She has taken AP courses in World History, Language and Composition, United States History, Environmental Science, Economics, and Studio Art. In her freshman year, Chabot was elected Class President. She was inducted into the National Honor Society this year, and was named Academic All-American in 2010.

Chabot has been a contributor to the Garnet & Black, the school newspaper, since 2007, and was a member of both the My Soldier and Breast Cancer Awareness clubs.

Outside of school, Chabot has coached all ages at Rye Youth Soccer Camp, and has participated in fundraising walks to support breast cancer, celiac disease, and pancreatic cancer. In her spare time, Chabot babysits for local families and works as a camp counselor at Shenorock Shore Club.

Chabot will attend Wesleyan University this fall.
