Speed Demon Addie Schlingmann

Addie Schlingmann, a fifth grader at Osborn School, finished first in the 14-and-under bracket of The Stride 5K at Iona College April 10. She clocked in at 31 minutes and 9 seconds. The Stride benefits the Jacee Lynn Cappelli Diabetes Center and Sound Shore Medical Center.

The 10-year-old has been running for a few years, and was the youngest finisher of the 5-mile Rye Turkey Run in 2008. Her love for running helps to keep her speedy for her travel soccer team, as well as her softball and Rye Rec basketball team. She mostly runs, however, to keep up with her dad, Rob, who has completed a marathon and is currently training for a triathlon. The duo runs and trains together through the streets of Rye. Addie’s next goal is to complete a 10K, and then a half marathon!
