Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad

Two local teams were victorious in their first round playoff games Wednesday evening. The top-seeded Rye ice hockey team defeated No. 8 Somers/N.Salem 5-1. They advanced to the semifinals, where they’ll meet fourth-seeded Putnam Valley/Kennedy Friday night at Playland. Game time is set for 8:15 p.m.

The Rye Country Day boys’ basketball team defeated Greens Farms Academy by a score of 69-57 in the first round of the FAA playoffs. They next play Hamden Hall Friday on the road.

In the first round of the girls’ basketball FAA playoffs, Masters defeated Rye Country Day School, 43-38. Carolyn Binder led RCDS with 18 points and Meghan McDonough had nine points and 16 rebounds.
