Rye to Host Seminar for Future College Student-Athletes

What comes first when selecting a college, academics or athletics? Rick Pound – an athletic director, counselor, and coach – will address the issue in a seminar October 27 at 9 a.m. in the Rye Performing Arts Center.

In “Taking Sports Beyond High School”, Pound presents the importance of knowing how to package your assets to appeal to the colleges you’re interested in attending. Students will learn how to market themselves to maximize potential for advanced scholastic achievement. They’ll also be shown the “big picture” of college academics and athletics, and find out about the latest NCAA Student-Athlete Eligibility Requirements.

Admission is free and all are welcome. It’s sponsored by the Blind Brook, Byram Hills, Harrison, Mamaroneck, Port Chester, Rye City, Rye Neck, and White Plains school districts.
