Garnets Advance to Section Quarterfinals in 16-15 Overtime Thriller

In an epic Class first round playoff battle, the eleventh-seeded Rye girls’ lacrosse team upended No. 6 Nanuet on the road in overtime, 16-15. The two teams had met in the regular season and finished to a 13-13 tie, so we finally have a winner. More details on this game later. In an outbracket game the day before, Rye smashed 16-0 as Molly O’Brien eclipsed the 200-goal mark for her career. She now has 208 career goals for the Garnets. The girls have now won three consecutive contests, and head to Bronxville Saturday, May 22 for an 11 a.m. clash with the third-seeded Broncos, who dispatched 14th-seeded Ardsley yesterday, 16-3.
