A “Season To Believe” for the Ice Garnets

With rumors circulating that Queensbury — Rye’s Section 2 opponent in the State quarterfinal — is sending 200 fans to the Playland Ice Casino for Saturday’s game, the Garnets are asking their fans to get to the rink earlier than usual. In fact, a late arrival — or even an on-time one — may mean you’re shut out of the game! Rye needs your support for what should be an electric home ice atmosphere for the 8 p.m. tilt. The Garnets split with the Spartans in the regular season, losing the most recent affair, and will need every edge they can get if they’re to advance to the Frozen Four in Utica. Please do your part and arrive early!

Nick Rosenfield, an All-League junior who scored 14 goals and dished 12 assists this season, explains what makes this Garnet team so special.

“I believe what defines us as the Garnet hockey team is our hard work, hustle, and above all heart,” said Rosenfield. “We have three seniors on our team who are determined to keep this run going, but we also have 19 other guys working just as hard, and just as excited to play this game and keep winning. And it shows with all three of our lines from seniors to freshman stepping up in big games and playing great because of the work ethic and the heart that defines Garnet Hockey.”

“The game Saturday is the biggest game of our season, so far, and will without a doubt be one of the best,” continued Rosenfield. “Everyone should come out because the fans really get us going and it is going to be a fun, fast paced, and physical game from start to finish.”

See you Saturday!
