Playoff Fever Picks Up Again Tonight

Three of Rye’s top teams take the court and ice tonight, beginning with the No. 3 Rye Country Day girls’ basketball team’s Fairchester Athletic Association Tournament Semifinal at second-seeded Hamden Hall (4:30 p.m.). Senior captain Alexandra Osborn-Jones will look to follow up her superlative performance in the quarterfinals against Holy Child, where she put up a line of 30 points, 19 rebounds, and eight blocks. In OJ’s four years as a Wildcat starter, her teams have made the FAA finals twice, but have never won the tournament.

Back home at Rye Country Day, the third-seeded boys’ basketball team begins their playoff quest when they take on No. 6 Hamden Hall at 4:30 in the FAA Tournament quarterfinal.

Finally, the Rye High ice hockey team enters the Division II Sectional tournament fray at home in the Playland Ice Casino. The top-seeded Garnets will take on Fox Lane in the quarterfinals. They defeated the Foxes just 16 days earlier, 4-1.

In other action, the Rye Country Day boys’ hockey team faces archrival Brunswick at home at 6 p.m.
