Morning Round-up: Ice Garnets Earn Top Seed in Sectionals

The Section playoff brackets for hockey were recently announced, and — as the No. 1 seed — the Rye boys’ team earned a first round bye into the Division II quarterfinals Wednesday, February 24, at the Playland Ice Casino. If they’re victorious there against the winner of No. 8 Fox Lane and 9th-seeded Byram Hills, they could very well face Pelham in the Section Semifinal February 26 at the Ice Casino. The championship game is scheduled for February 28 at West Point’s Tate Rink. Rye, the No. 2 ranked DII team in all of New York State, has made it to the Section final the last three years, and lost for the first time in those three trips last year at West Point to Pelham.

Rye’s regular season finale is tonight at local rival Rye Country Day School.
