Afternoon Round-up: Wildcats Roar in Season-Opener

The Rye Country Day boys’ hockey team began their season with a thrilling overtime victory yesterday. Shayne Bingham didn’t allow the drama to last in the overtime session, as he scored one minute in to give his Wildcats a 3-2 victory over visiting Rye Town/Harrison. Omeed Alidadi recorded 10 saves in net, and Chris Seter and Cole Kleinberg scored goals in regulation. Jeffrey Horowitz assisted twice.

The girls’ ice Wildcats weren’t as fortunate. They fell 7-1 on the road at Cantebury. Nicole Grosser faced a deluge of shots on goal, and was able to save an incredible 48. Kayti Faustini scored Rye Country Day’s lone goal.

At home in the season-opener against Hotchkiss, the Rye Country Day boys’ squash squad pulled out a hard-fought 4-3 victory. Thomas Galluccop, Grayson Clary, Michael Walsh, and John Shuck were all winners for the Wildcats.

The Rye Neck girls’ basketball team dropped a 43-22 decision to local rival Mamaroneck on the road Wednesday. Carla Elias-Nava led the Panthers with seven points.
