In yesterday’s action, the Rye Country Day girls’ soccer team defeated Greens Farms today in the quarter finals of the FAA Tournament, 2-1.  The Wildcats took an early lead when Jenna Frank passed a through ball to Delaine Powerful who broke behind the Greens Farms defense and beat keeper Grace Bowman. Halfway through the period, Steph Sabatini popped a great ball over the Greens Farms defense and Delaine ran under it and flicked the ball over a charging Bowmann for her second goal. Eight minutes into the second half, Sarah Whittaker scored for Greens Farms beating Kayti Faustini on a pretty shot. Faustini had 10 saves in goal for Rye; Grace Bowman stopped 12 Rye shots for Greens Farms. Delaine and Liz Judd were selected all-stars by the Greens Farms coach.  The Wildcats now face top-seeded Greenwich Academy on the road today in the FAA semifinals.
