Morning Round-up: Rye blanks seven straight

Rye’s field hockey continued their shutout streak Thursday, defeating John-Jay Cross River 7-0. The Garnets have reeled off seven consecutive victories while outscoring the opposition 27-0. Mallory Little and Annie VanWagenen combined for four goals, and Torie Stearns, Olivia Nabhan, and Rachel Francella had one each. Michelle Mulhearn recorded two assists, and Kaitlin Campbell and Tali Linton put together four saves in the shutout.

Rye’s swimming and diving team improved to a perfect 6-0 by besting the Briarcliff/Westlake/Pleasantville squad 113-72. Courtney Ciardiello, Coco Darelius, Melissa Fulenwider, and Kelly O’Neill all had first place finishes, and the Garnets also won the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.

On the tennis court at Rye, the Garnets got back to .500 with a 6-1 win over Blind Brook. Claire Pfister and Olivia Singer won in their respective second and third singles matches.

Thanks to a very early goal from Sam Amatuzzo and five saves from Jessica Wright, Rye Neck’s girls’ soccer team held off visiting Blind Brook 1-0.

Rye Neck’s field hockey team lost a tough 2-1 decision on the road at Byram Hills. Astina Nathan scored for the Panthers.

Rye Neck’s volleyball team also lost. They fell 3-0 (25-18, 25-10, 25-10) at home to Westlake.
