Saunders High School has forfeited its home game against Rye, which was scheduled for September 17, for lack of players. The game is officially canceled — with no make-up scheduled — and the Garnets are now 2-0 without having to travel to Yonkers tomorrow.
More on this when word comes in from Rye’s Athletic Department.
Certainly an unfortunate happening for Saunders, and especially their players. For Rye however, the “leap” to Class A has not been all it was hyped up to be thus far. First it was a 21-6 throttling of an elite Ossining program, and now the second opponent cannot field a proper team.
Rye’s next contest is Saturday, September 26, on the road at Eastchester.
